The City of Gallup conducted an Active Shooter Exercise at
the Octavian Fellin Public Library on the morning of July 12th. The
overall objective of the exercise was to identify and evaluate planning,
response, mitigation and recovery actions associated with an Active Shooter
event at the local library in accordance with policies and procedures of the
respective departments and agencies involved. This was a great opportunity for
all Agencies involved to test their response capabilities and communication with
other agencies.

The Event was considered a success and lessons learned from
the event will be used to improve departments and agencies training and
readiness capabilities. The City of Gallup is consistently looking to improve
interagency communications and cooperation when dealing with large events in
order to better serve and protect our citizens and visitors.
