Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the general direction and guidance of the Assistant Chief of Training/EMS, position involves administrative work to collaborate with other officials in the performance and direction of activities related to developing, planning, presenting, and coordinating emergency medical services for the City of Gallup. Provides public education and continuing education credits to fire department personnel for EMT re-certification.

  • Performs Quality Assurance reviews of EMS documentation and care delivered as set forth by New Medical Department of Health Services guidelines.
  • Evaluates EMS data, identifying methods of providing effective emergency medical care, identifying methods to correct complex medical issues and patient care delivery situations and designing quality assurance programs to measure program outcome and effectiveness.
  • Conducts research and analysis of current and future EMS issues and trends to ensure quality medical services. Assists in accomplishing established overall organizational goals through program management, provider and system evaluation and quality assurance

STARTING HOURLY RATE:  $17.10 - 18.68 P/H  DOQ

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Valid State of New Mexico Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and /or weekends.
  • Must be EMT-Intermediate Certified
  • Certification In Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in first responder medical care. i.e. medic, paramedic
  • Experience in Organizing and Teaching Public Safety Education
  • Experience in Grant Writing.
  • Knowledge in Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Associates Degree in a health related field (Nursing, Paramedic)
  • Emergency shelter management
  • National Incident Management 100-700 Compliant
  • Instructor Certified in CPR
