Last week, the fire department spent three mornings conducting Landing Zone training. Gallup Med Flight held training for each crew at the northside fire station located at 911 W. Lincoln.
The large open field just south of the fire station, allowed fire fighters to set-up a landing zone, which would allow Gallup Med Flight’s helicopter to safely land. Fire fighters then received training on proper signaling, helicopter safety, emergency shut-off, and loading and unloading of patients.
This joint training opportunity with Gallup Med Flight is just one way the two agencies have worked together over the years.
