Our second annual City of Gallup Residential Cleanup Campaign was a huge success! The campaign took place from April 28 through August 25, consisting of six designated Saturday events to remove unwanted junk and hazardous household materials from all residential neighborhoods. According to Solid Waste Superintendent Adrian Marrufo, city crews collected and properly disposed of approximately 267 tons of refuse, and recycled over 12 tons of metal through local businesses. Since the inception of this campaign last year we’ve removed nearly 600 tons of waste from Gallup. That weight is equivalent to two Boeing 747 airliners!
Outstanding teamwork among City of Gallup employees from Solid Waste, Streets, and Parks Divisions resulted in safe, timely and well-organized cleanup operations. The city wishes to extend special thanks to our residents for joining with us to improve our quality of life, beautify our residential neighborhoods and maintain a cleaner Gallup.
