Local dignitaries and community members gathered at the city’s new Dog Park on Tuesday, September 18 for a formal dedication ceremony. The new park features large fenced play areas divided into sections for small and large animals, with dog exercise equipment, picnic tables and drinking fountains. The grounds are lighted for early morning and dusk hours.
Thanks to generous donations of land, materials, improvements and services, the vast majority of project expenses were funded privately. Donations were made by:
• John and Michelle Killgore
• Bubany Lumber Company
• DePauli Engineering Services
• Vernon Hamilton Construction Co.
• Murphy Builders Inc.
• Hinkley Signs
• Nicolina Seay
• George and Joyce Kozeliski
• Gallup Fence Company
• Gallup-McKinley County Humane Society
The dog park is conveniently located at 801 South Second Street in Gallup, and is open daily from 6 am to 10 pm through October 31, when winter hours of 7 am to 9 pm take effect. Before going to the park for the first time, it would be a good idea to review the park rules to ensure the safety and health of dogs and visitors. We hope you and your four-legged friends enjoy this new facility!
