GALLUP FIRE DEPARTMENT ACHIEVES ISO RATING IN TOP 5% NATIONALLY

During a recent review by the Insurance Services Office (ISO), improvements in fire protection services at the Gallup Fire Department have resulted in a lowering of the city's ISO fire risk rating. The city will have a Class 3-rating effective June 1, 2014, one of the best in the country. The achievement was noted at Tuesday's City Council Meeting by Fire Chief Eric Babcock: "Gallup has attained an ISO rating of 3, which places the city above 95% of all municipalities in the United States in terms of its fire risk." The ISO rating is very important as it is used by insurers to determine premiums paid by customers for property and casualty insurance. "Residents and businesses are encouraged to advise their insurance company of the new lower ISO rating when they renew their insurance policies, which may result in a lower premium," according to Gallup Fire Marshal "Chuy" Morales.
