The City of Gallup will begin a meter conversion project for all Single‐ phase (120/240V) residential and commercial electric utility customer. The City contracted company Tantalus and their subcontractor NexGen to replace the meters. This project will upgrade and modernize the City’s electric billing infrastructure and NexGen line crew staff are underway throughout the City’s service area.
NexGen staff are under contract with the City and authorized to replace the meters. All NexGen staff will carry identification when changing out the meters. Prior to installation of new meter, the installer will do a door‐knock for the homeowner, though homeowner is not required to be home during the meter swap. Replacement of the meter only takes a few minutes but does require the lost of power to the home.
