City Councilor Sarah Piano

Elected

Sarah was elected to office in March 2022. Sarah Piano was raised in Gallup, NM since she was 8 years old and loves the blend of culture and beauty that NM offers.  Sarah has a background in fundraising and public relations and is the Senior Director of Northern NM for Big Brothers Big Sisters, a job she has had for 14 years. She decided to run for city council because she loves this community and the people in it. “I care about investing in our community and making a difference for generations to come and I want to be a voice for our community.” In her non-work life, she enjoys playing on a city soccer league, being involved in her church, travelling and spending time with her husband and 2 rambunctious dogs.

Objectives

Councilor Sarah Piano's objectives include:

• Bring transparency to the public about city projects and how decisions are made
• Strengthen the relationship between the city, the county, and tribal government
• Focus on investing funding into current infrastructure needs and working with city, county, and state officials to find new funding opportunities
• Work alongside law enforcement to diminish the ongoing crime and find ways to bring in additional officers
• Support local businesses and work with business leaders to improve current business regulations
