The City of Gallup requires all fire protection companies doing work in the City to have a valid Certificate of Fitness from the State Fire Marshal’s Office. A copy of the Certificate of Fitness as well as proof of liability insurance must be submitted to the Gallup Fire Department Fire Prevention Office in order to conduct business within the city of Gallup.
Please ask the fire protection company for their Certificate of Fitness before approving any work. You may also contact the Fire Prevention Office to inquire about the status of a fire protection company at (505) 726-5448.
To obtain a Certificate of Fitness, the fire protection company must complete an application process with the State of New Mexico for the fire protection systems they install or service.
The companies must obtain Certificate of Fitness for all the systems they install or service (i.e.: fire alarms, sprinklers, hoods, and fire extinguishers). This Certificate of Fitness system ensures that the company doing the work adheres to the Fire Code and all other requirements.
