Opening Reception: Coyote Canyon Rehabilitation Center Art Exhibit at the Library
Saturday, September 8, 2018
Coyote Canyon Rehabilitation Center will have an art exhibit on display throughout September and there will be an opening reception at the Octavia Fellin Library Children’s Branch on Saturday September 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during ArtsCrawl. Refreshments will be served.
The center began as Navajo Children’s Rehabilitation Center or “Dine BAA ALCHINI NAHIILNA” in April 1972 when the agency was formally incorporated in the State of New Mexico as a private, non-profit organization. The art program began in 2001 and provides training in several art mediums such as silversmithing, photography, bead making, painting, and weaving. This art program is designed to be a long term opportunity to provide art training to Native American adults with developmental disabilities. The exhibit will feature different works of art by the residents which will include jewelry, woodwork, paintings, and photographs.
